Workout Routine Ideas

Getting a good workout can be a great way to improve your overall health, boost your mood, and increase your energy levels. However, with so many different types of exercises and routines out there, it can be difficult to know where to start or what will work best for you. That's why we've put together this list of workout routine ideas - to help give you some inspiration and guidance as you create a fitness plan that suits your needs.

Sample Workout Routines

Beginner Routine

If you're just starting out with working out, it's often best to start with simple exercises that focus on building overall strength. Here are a few routines you can try:

  • Warm up with 5-10 minutes of light cardio (jogging in place or jumping jacks)
  • Do 2 sets of 8-12 reps for each exercise:
    • Push-ups
    • Squats
    • Lunges
    • Planks
    • Pull-ups (or assisted pull-ups if you can't do full pull-ups yet)
  • Cool down with 5-10 minutes of stretching

Intermediate Routine

Once you've built up some strength, it's time to mix things up and challenge yourself a bit more. Here are a few intermediate routines:

  • Warm up with 5-10 minutes of light cardio
  • Do 3 sets of 12-15 reps for each exercise:
    • Dumbbell squats
    • Deadlifts
    • Incline dumbbell presses
    • Bent over rows
    • Leg press
  • Cool down with 5-10 minutes of stretching

Advanced Routine

If you're already fairly fit, it's time to push yourself even harder. Here are a few advanced routines:

  • Warm up with 5-10 minutes of light cardio
  • Do 4 sets of 15-20 reps for each exercise:
    • Box squats
    • Trap bar deadlifts
    • Close grip bench presses
    • Wide grip pull-ups (or assisted pull-ups if you can't do full pull-ups yet)
    • Single leg deadlifts
  • Cool down with 5-10 minutes of stretching
